It came to a surprise to hear that our Executive Director Ramon Gaanderse has decided to seek a new endeavor. Ramon submitted his resignation last Friday to the Board of Directors. Ramon has been with ATB for 7-years and has been managing various associations for 16 years. “This time I am NOT going to manage an association, but will be working in the true private sector” he said. Over the 7 years Ramon has been very successful in the goals set forth by the Board of Directors and reached many milestones. To name a few, Ramon was very active and involved in both the City of Tucson’s propositions 409 and 101 and their success. In 2014, Ramon proposed the association name change to expand its reach in the community but also to set the record straight that we are an investiture association. With the help from the Board of Directors and then President Chris Rogers, the association made several major changes that year. “I didn’t do this alone, and thank Yvette for and foremost, but of course our entire membership and board of directors believing in my vision and making it happen” Gaanderse stated. When Ramon was hired in 2011 the association was still suffering from the recent economic downturn. As 2017 is complete, ATB finished with its second-best year over the past eleven years while selling out the golf tournament the last three years, and bringing attendance to an all new high. We are very sorry to see Ramon depart, but can’t be more thankful for his leadership and passion and we wish him and his family all the best into the future.
